Anti-Capitalist Worldbuilding : Introduction

“Another world is not only possible, she is on her way. On a quiet day, I can hear her breathing.”
- Arundhati Roy
The phrase "Another World Is Possible" is often used as a slogan to express hope for a better, more just, and equitable world, particularly in the context of social and political movements. It emphasizes the belief that significant positive change is achievable through collective action and imagination.

The phrase "Another World Is Possible" originated as a slogan for the World Social Forum, which began in 2001 as a response to corporate globalization and neoliberalism. It reflects the aspirations of various social movements advocating for alternatives to the current economic and political systems.

Neoliberal capitalism refers to a phase of capitalism characterized by reduced restrictions on global trade and finance, emphasizing free markets and privatization.
Neoliberal capitalism has significantly increased income inequality, particularly since the 1980s, as policies favoring the wealthy have led to a concentration of wealth among the top earners while the middle class has shrunk and poverty has risen. This shift has resulted in the richest 1% gaining a disproportionate share of income, exacerbating social and economic disparities.
