Bina 48
Bina48 is a humanoid robot that can converse with people. She was created by Hanson Robotics in 2010 and is based on Bina Aspen, the wife of Martine Rothblatt. I briefly featured Bina 48 in the Another World is Possible video essay in 2015.

How was Bina48 created?
  • Bina48's appearance and personality are based on Bina Aspen.
  • Hanson Robotics spent over 100 hours gathering Aspen's memories, beliefs, and feelings.
  • Bina48's head and shoulders are mounted on a frame.
  • She is made of a material called "frubber" that allows her to smile, frown, and look confused.
**What can Bina48 do?
  • Bina48 can engage in simple conversations with people.
  • She can interact based on the information, beliefs, values, and memories collected about a person.
  • She can offer an emotional account of her brother's personality changes after returning home from the Vietnam War.
